Is EmergePet free to use?
+
EmergePet is free to download and includes a generous set of features at no cost — pet profiles, health records storage, vaccination tracking, and the emergency QR code. Premium features like AI symptom triage, lab trend analysis, and AI visit prep summaries are available with an EmergePet Premium subscription.
Does the vet need to have EmergePet to scan the QR code?
+
No — that's one of the most important design decisions we made. When a vet scans your pet's QR code, it opens directly in their browser. No app download, no account creation, no friction. It works on any phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a browser.
How do I get my pet's records into the app?
+
Three ways: (1) Upload PDFs directly from your email or files — our AI extracts and organizes the data automatically. (2) Use the record request feature to send your vet a secure upload link — they can upload records without needing an account. (3) Enter information manually for things like vaccinations and current medications.
Is my pet's medical information secure?
+
Yes. Records are encrypted at rest and in transit. The QR code share is time-limited (24 hours by default) and owner-controlled — you can see who accessed your pet's records and revoke access at any time directly from the app. We never sell your data or share it with third parties.
I'm a vet. How do I get my clinic verified?
+
Fill out the clinic registration form on our For Vets page or send us an email at support@emergepet.app with your name, credential, and clinic name. Verification is free. Once verified, your name and clinic appear with a verified badge on every visit note you push — building trust with owners and future clinicians.
What species does EmergePet support?
+
Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, fish, and more. The AI triage and health advice features are species-aware — the guidance for a rabbit not eating is very different from a dog not eating, and EmergePet knows the difference.
Is the AI triage a replacement for going to a vet?
+
No — and we're explicit about that in the app. The AI triage is designed to help you make a faster, more informed decision about whether to seek care and how urgently. It is not a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for professional veterinary care. When in doubt, it errs toward recommending you go in — because we'd rather send someone to the ER unnecessarily than miss a real emergency.
